Apple October Event (Recap)
Wednesday, 23 October 2013
We have gotten to the stage where Apple Events are becoming like a recap of the rumors that precede the events and likewise, we witnessed just that yesterday at Apple's October 22nd Special Event. It was just too predictable... The products were exact replicas of the leaked versions. Even after Apple promised at the end of last year that they will strengthen their security to lessen the data leaked to the press. If anything we have seen more leaked images and even hands-on videos with components of these devices this year but non the less, the event was a brilliant showcase of Apple's progress over the year and most importantly... It showed that Apple isn't going to follow the crowd (with products like Tablet-PC's) and that Apple has dedicated it's time to perfection rather than just getting products on the market.
Designed By Apple In California (Ad)
Apple opened its Event with this video that they debuted at the September Event. The video highlights Apple's Craftsmanship and their key values. It speak about how Apple redesigns their products until everything they touch, enhances every life it touches. The Video keeps with Apple's sophisticated black & white theme and has a very flat and simple design.
Updates
After the video, Tim Cook (CEO Of Apple) took to the stage to give us some updates on the success of Apple in 2013. He Stressed the importance of Apps and how Apple has reached 60 Billion Cumulative app downloads. He talked about the new iPhones and mentioned that the iPhone 5S & 5C Launch day was the biggest launch day yet. They then played a video to show the experience of an Apple Launch day...
Apps
Apple's much loved app suites took main stage. Apple's new iWork & iLife suites add to the beautiful facade of OSX Mavericks and the gorgeous flat iOS7. These apps do more than just add beauty to our docks and app drawers, they are productivity at our fingertips! Apple redesigned & reinvented Pages, Keynote, Number, iMovie, GarageBand & iPhoto to making them easier to use and giving users a more professional output. These apps are free on any new Mac or iOS Device. (Purchased after the event)
OSX Mavericks
OSX Mavericks was originally showcased with iOS7 back in September. This software was brought back to the stage where Apple explained its features again (as if we forgot about it). We saw DEMO's of iBooks for Mac , the all new maps & the redesigned Calendar app. Still no Siri *Sigh*. Apple really captured the audiences attention when they announced that OSX Mavericks will be available after the event for FREE! Any user, even a user with a Mac from 2007 can upgrade to OSX Mavericks for free.
Macbook Pro With Retina Display (Late 2013)
The new Macbook Pro with Retina Display is a rather peculiar upgrade since the flagship laptop series was last updated in June this year! But Apple released this update to eliminate the old Macbook Pro. The new version is basically the Macbook Pro With Retina Display (Mid 2013) with a slightly faster processor and a cheaper price-tag to meet the Pro halfway when it comes to affordability. The new Retina is thiner, lighter and over-all more value for money. The Macbook ships after the event.
Macbook Updates
Apple said that they are extremely proud of the Macbook line-up. Tim Cook goes to say that the new Macbook Air has been the best reviewed Macbook yet. He even quoted various reviews with lines such as 'The Macbook Air is as close perfection as a notebook can get' and 'Mind Blown!' Tim Cook addressed their competition's Tablet PC's.
"Now, our competition is different: they're confused. They chased after netbooks. Now they're trying to make PCs into tablets and tablets into PCs. Who knows what they'll do next?" - Tim Cook
Mac Pro
The monarch of the Mac family makes its triumphant full debut after it was teased at the September Event. Apple shared the full specs of this tower which includes a a massive 12GBs of RAM, Support for 6 Thunderbolt displays & 3 4K screens , 2GBs of Graphics and just 9.9 inches high! Unfortunately great hardware comes at a steep price with the base level Mac Pro priced at $2999! Well, at least it will be exclusive...
iPad Updates
Tim Cook praises the iPad with statements such as "Our most advanced technology in a magical & revolutionary device."Apple gives us some statistics about iPads. Apple has sold over 170 Million iPads. Cook talks about how iPads have the majority of Tablet usage & are #1 in Customer Satisfaction! Over 475000 apps that are tailor made for the iPad and not 'stretched out smartphone applications'. Cook then moves over to a video of how people are using ipads. Watch Now
iPad With Retina Display
The iPad mini gets revised with a new crisp Retina display of 326 ppi. We also see both the Apple A7 & M7 chips in this tablet. The new processors are bound to really boost this little device. The iPad Mini with Retina Display will sell for $399 however the current iPad Mini will drop down to $299. The new price of the iPad Mini is definitely something that will be attractive to consumers who are interested in cheaper 7' tablets like the Kindle Fire & Nexus 7. I think the Retina display is really the icing on top of the cake. It really perfects the tablet. A beautiful design, gorgeous screen and immersive Operating System - What can I fault?
iPad Air
The Regular sized iPad gets a massive face-lift to match its younger brother, the iPad Mini. The bezel is relatively slimmer and the device is much thiner than the previous version. The device gets its name from its extremely jaw-dropping 1 pound weight which makes it the lightest full-size tablet on the market. The iPad 5th Generation (Air) gets the same A7 and M7 chips as the Retina and 264ppi screen. The price of the iPad Air stays at its regular $499 price-tag. Both iPads come in White/Silver & Space Grey. I truly don't know what more Apple could have done with this tablet! It truly remarkable. This Tablet will have even their competition doubting themselves...

All You Need to Survive : Apple October 22nd Event!
Tuesday, 22 October 2013
Apple is taking to the world-wide stage again this afternoon to bring us upgraded and innovated products that are guaranteed to make our lives simplier and more productive. Among the various products, we are likely to see the much anticapated iPad 5th Generation, a second generation iPad Mini, The Consumer release of OSX Mavericks & more details about the outlandish Mac Pro! I would also like to see an upgraded iPod Classic (since we haven't seen a upgraded iPod this year!) Over the past few months we've seen leaked images of realistic components for the new iPads and even hands-on videos with some back-panels. Apple's iPad has been the crowd favoriote tablet for the past few years but with tablets like the new Kindle Fire HDX and the new Nexus 7 taking the market by storm , Apple needs to really secure their dominating position with these new updated iPads or it could be too late for the iPad race...

New iPads Expected to Release October 22nd! #Throwback
Tuesday, 22 October 2013
The Tablet family that you both know and love is about to get a flavour-packed update. Apple is expected to hold another press conference at the end of this month where the new iPads are set to take center stage. The Date October 22nd seems to be popular with many rumours. In this post i’m going to disect the various leaks and rumours that are flooding the internet and bring to you the best of them out there.
iPad Mini With Retina Display
In the above picture you can have a good look at the upcoming iPad Mini 2 or The iPad Mini with Retina Display. You can see the rather familiar shape and texture of the current iPad mini but what we also see is a “Space Grey” colour variant as suppose to the Slate colour option with the current iPad mini which was a few shades darker. This means that we could actually see new colours supported on the Mini. The iPad Mini 2 will supposedly ship with :
- Apple’s A6 Processor.
- A 8MP Back-facing camera (Still no flash.)
- A Retina Screen With a Resolution of about 336 ppi
- iOS 7
Q - Will The new iPads have Touch ID like the iPhone 5S
A - There is a possibility that they might, we have discovered that the size of the Touch ID Home Button can in fact fit in the new iPads body but whether they would do it is unlikely as it would make the iPads more costly.
iPad (5th Generation)
The pioneer tablet gets a facelift. This picture shows the alleged iPad 5 on top of the iPad With Retina Display (4th Generation.) As you can see above the tablet has adopted the much loved design of the iPad mini. The back has a matte finish with the new black apple logo to match the flatter design of iOS 7. I personally prefer this back as suppose to the current back, the new backing has better grip and looks cleaner and more appealing. Along with a design update, the iPad is sure to get a upgraded processor and camera.
Other Products
We could also see the GM (Golden Master) of OSX Mavericks launch to the public at that event and with that we could also finally get more information about the revamped Mac Pro that Apple teased earlier this year. So it goes without saying that this event is going to be much more interesting than the previous September event and we will definitely see more NEW technology debuted.
iOS 7 Golden Master/ Consumer Version set for September 18th Launch!
Monday, 16 September 2013
After months of Beta testing, Apple is finally ready to release its perfected new operating system. In reality theres not much so anticipate when you look the technical details of the OS but consumers have been long awaiting this release for the simple reason that its something new to ponder over. A whole new way to look at your iOS device. Its utterly beautiful! Transparency, Gradients and simplicity comes together to create a mobile operating system that is fit for use by the beginner smartphone user and corporate heads at the same time. We've seen Apple give us a glimpse of iOS 7 at WWDC 2013 and since then Apple has released 6 Beta versions. So it is almost guaranteed that you will be using a bug-free OS. iOS 7 may not boast the best software features and tricks but iOS does gloat when it comes to perfection. Apple is preparing to 'Seed' this new operating system to all of you die-hard 'Apple' fans out there on September 18th. First with the iPhones and other iOS devices to soon follow. I personally haven't used the developer Beta versions so I will get a real feel of iOS 7 on Wednesday and I will do a full review on it soon after. So to read that review as soon as its posted and to read other amazing content, Become a member.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom (Unboxing)
Sunday, 25 August 2013
This phone is the best of both worlds. It has the back of a professional camera and a symbolic front of what I believe in the best phone on the market (The S4). Have you ever seen a perfect landscape but missed the shot as you didn't have your huge professional camera. The Galaxy S4 Zoom means that you will never miss another picture again. Its light and portable. You can take high definition pictures and video where ever you are and share them seamlessly to all of your favorite social media networks. And all for R6500. So you can see why many photographer and tech-lovers alike will be interested in this mobile device. Lets get to the unboxing.

Lets have a look at the customary Samsung packaging. Straight away we see the camera back of the Galaxy S4 Zoom as well as the name at the bottom. The clamshell box is enveloped in a wood grain background. Theres a overall nature inspired theme about the packaging that keeps with the ethos of Samsung's Nature inspired smart devices.
On the side of the box, there is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom logo in all of its glory. You'll find the specifications and the amount of storage your selected device comes with.
Lets talk about the reason why you are probably here, The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. The beautiful phone, camera hybrids sits camera up as you look at it for the first time. The Phamera feels really amazing in your hands. It really easy to switch between taking pictures and using the phone. At first, i thought the large lens would get in the way but its positioning is perfect and doesn't interfere with the way you hold you phone. The Camera is very comfortable to use and is extremely smooth and feels very premium but we will have more about the device on our review.
Also included in the box is the white USB charger to match the phone, the Battery, Getting started Samsung guides, traditional samsung earphones with adjustable tips , a USB wall adapter and a swab to clean your screen and lens.
The Battery, SIM card and MicroSD slot is located at the bottom of the phone which is different to traditional Samsung phones which have those slots at the back. The bottom flap is very fragile and seems as if it could tear of at any moment.
Remember to subscribe to read our upcoming posts on this Phamera as well as other phones and tech appliances.
Invitations to a rather sketchy Samsung Unpacked event. (EP2)
Saturday, 17 August 2013
Samsung is back after its massive success of the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Tab 3 series! This is the second Samsung unpacked event for 2013, the first one being the launch of the galaxy S4. So to hype all of you tech-loving freaks out there. Samsung has sent out invitations to the another launch event. The invitation as a whole has an overall sketchy look to it and says "NOTE the date" which is something Samsung tends to do as a indication of what to expect at their release events. So we can deduce that Samsung is going to launch the Note III the sequel to the Note II which launched last year. Im really exited to see what the note III will have to offer and how it stands in comparisons with the Galaxy S4 and maybe even the iPhone 5S after it makes its debut later this year. The invitation also states that it will be held at the IFA in berlin on the 4th of September this year. The Note III isn't necessarily the only thing we are going to see there. We may also see the much awaited Galaxy Watch or as its been termed recently "Galaxy Gear." So remember the date 04.09.2013 as we are sure to have upcoming news and for the first time - a Pre-event show but we will have more details about that as time progresses. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram : @igeekdroid and subscribe to my blog for more in-depth content.

The Beta version gives us a striking look at what the consumer version should look like and I wont lie, we like what we see! This is just a sneak preview. A full review of the Golden Master / Consumer version will follow after its release.
RumourReady: Apple to Launch Two new iPhones!
Friday, 16 August 2013
The Smartphone war continues with Samsung and HTC battling it off to lead the tech industry but where has Apple gone? Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Xperia Z, the iPhone truly looks pathetically outdated. According to insiders, thats all going to change soon as Apple prepares for combat with not one, but two new smart phones. The smart phones will be the premium Apple iPhone 5S which will be an upgrade of the iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and available in a few other colours. The 5C is the much awaited "Budget" iPhone but knowing Apple, it wont be very cheap. We can probably expect the 5C to launch at $599. If priced right, the 5C will expand the Apple user base but knowing Apple, this isn't going to be the Smartphone of the year. The 5C is also expected to come in some amazing new colours like the iPod Touch came in.
The Apple iPhone 5C (middle) with iPhone 5 on the top and bottom. We get a side view of the 5C.
The alleged consumer packaging of the iPhone 5C featuring the thinner font we saw in iOS7 as well as a plastic shell box to match the plastic exterior of the 5C.
The back casing of the iPhone 5C. The 5C has a 5MP rear-facing camera and a standard flash besides it. We also see a black Apple logo that we have seen recently on the newest Time Capsule and Airport, this is an update of the Apple logo with the mirror effect on previous iDevices. Once again we see the iOS 7 inspired font and an overall smooth plastic design which is oddly similar to the iPhone 3GS!
This picture shows the iPhone 5S 's pop out Sim card tray. It supports Nano-SIMS just like the iPhone 5. This picture gives us an idea of the exterior colours available on the iPhone 5S. We see a dark charcoal colour on the left and a champagne colour on the right.

What I want to see in the iPhone 5C
As a mid-range device, i'd expect mid-range specs. I want to see specs that truly rival the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
- A upgraded display with no less than 300 ppi.
- Solid and sturdy build quality
- A 5MP Camera
- Availability in trendy colours
- A 4 inch Screen
- Apple's A7 Processor.
- All Day battery Life
More Colours means consumers need to prepare themselves for waiting lists.
If you thought the availability of iPhones were bad, they are about to get much worst! In the past people have waited on endless waiting lists for the coveted iPhone to arrive and even after its arrival, the waiting lists seem to continue for months! So if you are eager on getting your hands on the iPhone 5S or 5C, you are going to have to wait longer than usual (which says a lot.) Naturally, when manufacturers make multiple variants of a product then it becomes harder to get your exact option. Long story short - The popular colours (like White) will be constantly sold out leaving the not so popular colours like yellow and green. So unless you like those colours, be prepared to wait...
5S (Rumors) in Pictures.
The various colour options on the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S will probably keep with the basic design of the iPhone 5. We will probably see minor spec upgrades to the camera and the screen. The iPhone 5S will probably have a bigger 4.5 or even 5"inch screen and support for iOS7.
This picture shows a leaked picture of the iPhone 5S in all of its glory. We will probably see this device in more premium colours (like gold, silver and champagne) than found on the vibrant 5C.
This picture shows the iPhone 5S 's pop out Sim card tray. It supports Nano-SIMS just like the iPhone 5. This picture gives us an idea of the exterior colours available on the iPhone 5S. We see a dark charcoal colour on the left and a champagne colour on the right.
